Legal issues to consider for Web 2.0 – Michael Park

November 28th, 2008 · No Comments

Join Michael Park, Senior Associate from Deacons, as he provides a critical overview for HR practitioners on legal issues to consider for Web 2.0 in the workplace.

In April 2008 Deacons published the Deacons’ Social Networking Survey 2008, finding that almost half of those who used social networking sites at work said that if given a choice between two jobs equal in all other respects, they would choose an employer which allowed access to these sites over one which did not.

Further 76 per cent of workers who use the Internet at work could see a benefit to their organisation in allowing access to social networking sites believing it showed:

  • trust in employees (68 per cent);
  • gave people a break from day to day work and kept them fresh (48 per cent); and
  • allowed them to better network with other employees, customers and suppliers (40 per cent).

During the session Michael will cover:

  • What is Web 2.0 and why does it make lawyers nervous?
  • HR and Deacons Social Networking Survey
  • What you need to know to keep out of trouble with the law
  • Constructing a blogging policy to minimise legal risks
  • Your brand and the latest on domain names
